Summer Perfumes: The Best Notes for Hot Weather

In summer, many people look for perfumes that feel fresh without becoming overwhelming in high temperatures. Heat increases fragrance projection, so a composition worn in winter can seem much stronger on a hot day. Lighter formulas and a more restrained application often work better.

Summer perfumes frequently feature citrus, bergamot, neroli, green tea, mint and aquatic notes. Transparent flowers such as jasmine, orange blossom and lily of the valley also work well. Fans of woody scents can look for vetiver, cedar or soft musk.

You do not have to avoid sweet aromas completely. Vanilla, coconut and tropical fruits can create excellent summer fragrances when balanced with salt, citrus or fresh notes. The key is balance and the way the perfume develops on warm skin.

Before choosing, test the fragrance outdoors and follow it throughout the day. A summer perfume should suit not only the temperature but also the occasion: one scent may work for the beach, another for work and another for an evening walk.
